The meeting with my old friend went well last night.
It was exciting to see her after so long.
The time in which between, so much has happened
and yet, strangely, I feel the same
and it is as though no time has passed.
We laughed about things from our childhood
that only her and I would know--
such things are so sweet to me now,
to share memories with a friend--
the oldest friend, the only friend, who knows.
And, about the others, we talked back and forth.
She told me what she knew and I had nothing to report.
Last thing she knew, Brandy was a masseuse
and Shawn was for hire, and not in the traditional sense.
She heard Jessica was getting married--
I remember that crush I had on her
back at Northwood Elementary School--
a beautiful person and a wonderful friend.
But Brandy, I wish I knew--
she was a sweet girl back then
and I'm sure, now, that she's a sweet lady.
My old friend has a steady girlfriend now of about three years
and I've been married for about three years
so I wish us both the best there.
Well, she hasn't heard from the others in about as long as me
although she did run into Brandy about a year past--
I hope to run into Brandy, too, sometime.
I miss her and the others
and I've come full circle
around the world on many tours,
back to where it all began, physically, mentally, and even emotionally too.
Changed? Yes. But, strangely the same.
And, it's good to be re-acquainted with a friend
and it's good to be back--
with new perspective--
and back on track,
grounded again.
