Four Dollar Latte

Some would ask:
           "Why waste the money?--
           three/four dollars a day
           for a frothy latte
           is a lot of money."

But, I would say:
           "Why not use my money
           to get away every day?
           If I stay at home
           depression makes sway--
           I'd rather spend the money."

You see
               staying home
                                        to write
               just doesn't
                                        inspire me
               and while
                                        my money
               could go to
                                        other things
               it really goes
                                        to writing.
               It isn't
                                        a waste
               by any means.

You see
               that expensive coffee
                                          buys me atmosphere.

Location and Atmosphere

Location and atmosphere
                 are important things
                 they breathe life
                 into my poems--
                 without their presence
                 I would regress.

Location and atmosphere
                 bring back words
                 that won't come
                 in other places
                 or noisy spaces
                 hung in time.

Location and atmosphere
                 are so important
                 I go places
                 far and away--
                 for their presence
                 and soothing voice.
