An Assemblage of Mornings: Home and Away
I call it an oh dear morning
Bathroom door slamming before I’m awake,
The rattle of coffee cups, the microwave’s beep,
My smile a grimace of fake.
She sits at the table impatient,
The unspoken message quite clear,
“Why back in my time, the daughter-in-law,
Would serve her elders with cheer.”
I call it a true deer morning
The doe and her fawn under the trees,
Only two in the house, no prying eyes,
Just a cardinal surveying the breeze.
I call it a my dear morning,
Held in strong arms, sleeping so late.
The dog softly snoring, sprawled lean and long,
A furry, delightful, loved weight.
Each kind of morning passes.
Each kind of morning awaits.
The good with the bad, the twists of our lives,
Attitude measures our fate.
Be always safe,
Karen
This is beautiful, beyond measure - well done. :)
