Sometimes seems there is no rest
From feelings with no place to go…
While caught up in the disarray
Washed out to seas so far below.

Floods the mind with deep frustration
Bubbling from the wounded heart…
Repressed to keep the torrents in
Until it blows your world apart.

The crumbling of the dam begins,
A trickle slowly starts to spread…
The magnitude a crushing blow
That drowns and leaves the soul for dead.

Yet body kept alive remains
A carcass left to rot alone…
The mirror fogs and warps the image,
Nothing left but skin and bone.

For even if the words are whispered
To release the inner pain…
So often there’s no way to stop
The downpour of the coldest rain.

Communication is an anchor
If the spirit stops and thinks…
But if we sail a course uncharted
It becomes the weight that sinks.
