I’ve forgotten how to taste
The sweet when bitter seems my fate…
The days have swollen into years
When time arrives a little late.

As cobwebs fill the empty spaces
Captivating though they blind…
It’s futile to attempt to claim
The moments we cannot rewind.

Straightjacket thoughts have screamed inside
Forever kept behind the key…
The darkened room contains the hope
That once upon, a time was me.

The anger passed away too soon,
Now just a dream that tries to sleep…
The tangled words caught in my throat
Embalms the soul I try to keep.

When left behind to resurrect,
Once more the flame of passion’s fire…
The weight of tears becomes the tomb
Where dies the last of our desire.

Too tired to move beyond these walls,
I suffocate beneath the choice…
I live in words upon the page,
For I have lost my only voice.
