The canvas was left for the sun to embrace
where her tears muted colors, his fingers to trace…
Yet above were the clouds of a blackest blue-gray
raining sorrow and anger upon her display.

She had tried to repaint it, recolor its heart
but the vultures descended to tear it apart…
All her efforts were futile in mending the fray
just another reminder what’s golden can’t stay.

Her mouth tried to speak, to explain what it cost
then the silence stretched out ‘till her whispers were lost…
As the wind swallowed meanings her soul ached with fear
that the love in her voice, he would never quite hear.

Though she vowed she would find it, a voice all her own
whether heaven approved it or hell be her throne…
So she took all her words that were held deep within
wrote them down with a fury igniting her pen.

On the pages were feelings so long held repressed,
all the burdens she carried that left her depressed…
‘Till the beauty inside her had finally awoken,
her true voice was found, though no words had been spoken.
