A Hole in my Heart

For my dear friend Julie and for all of you who have lost someone special in your life...or who are hurting right now. My wish for you...

Mere words cannot express
the sorrow that I feel--
the empathy,
the sympathy,
your pain brings up in me.

I read your words of death and pain-
my mind can’t comprehend,
but my heart knows
the hurt you bleed
and feels that grief for you.

My heart remembers,
once again,
the emptiness you feel…
the anguish one can only know
when loved ones die too soon.

I wish…
that I could reach out
and hug that pain away…
let you cry upon my shoulder
as you wash the ache away.

They say that time
can heal all wounds;
alas, I know too well--
the sorrow and the heartache
don’t ever disappear.

The hurt may lessen
and grow dim
but underneath the scar,
I know--
there’s a hole in your heart.

My wish for you is simple:
I hope that you feel loved--
that you’ll be blessed
with peace above
to fill your anguished heart.

I think sometimes it is even more painful to watch someone you love or care about suffer with pain in their heart than to suffer ones own heartache. Achingly touching piece. Hugs, Elizabeth

Death is such a hard thing to overcome. Lately it seems, it's everywhere for me. And when you know a person who's loved one has passed, words are so hard to come by. Loved the poem.

Knowing that someone cares - as you do with this poem, Cryssa - surely will help to fill the void. Beyond the sorrow and hurt comes lonliness, and that's when friends are needed the most; I also know.
Truly, a write from the heart.

A hole in ones heart, caused by Cupido's arrow, or by an ice dagger from rejection, or by a cruel hand thar riped off a friend from our lives, or...so many life's holes in our hearts, but always we will have the God's given grace to overcome.

God gave us laughter and tears - each to show the depth of our emotions and to free our spirit. To say that this poem is beautiful sounds trite, but it is beautiful. It has filled my 'heart's hole' in remembering the beauty of friendship, love and good wishes.

God bless you. Kathy
