Short Dreams of Cotton (The Ogress Chronicles, Part VI)

Thanks, Georg for being a good sport! You are a "knight" among poets! (That ogress just doesn't know a knight when she sees one!)

Charlie left the princessy ogress singing herself to sleep...

The princessy ogress spun dreams of gold
as she slept in her bed of cotton ball clouds.
She dreamt of the knight she knew would come;
but her dream was stagnant and needed new life.
            Maybe if she knew her suitor’s name it would help…

Her tongue tripped over twenty-four names
and finally trilled on the sound of Georg!
            (four up from the bottom of her list,
            three up from the bottom of Charlie’s)

And with that hard chore out of the way,
she nestled back in
to dream of the man
who would save her from them
            (“them” meaning her ogre siblings)

She drifted off on her fluffy pillow,
but her head felt as though it was full of cotton;
and her blankets of down wouldn’t cover her feet,
and she couldn’t sleep, but tossed and turned…
            (Yep… you guessed it!
            Those brothers of hers
            had short-sheeted her bed!)

And with her discomfort her nightmare began…
She was dressed to perfection in a pretty green dress
and dreamed of him taking her out on a date.
He took her to a fabulous restaurant,
but all they ordered was a plate of tomatoes.
And in her disgust she bit down too hard,
and squirted tomatoes seeds all over Georg!

Luckily Georg was quite a good man,
and he smiled at her as he wiped off his shirt
and laughingly told her, “Green Girl,
 ‘about that seed-spitting…
[next time] Don’t aim my way please!’”

She smiled adoringly at this kind man.
He winked at her smile and took her hand
and treated her well the rest of the evening.
They laughed and they joked and had fun together
and just as the sun was “Peak Peeking” good morning
            -that just means the sun was starting to rise
he brought her back home and gazed into her eyes.

But just as he bent his head down to kiss her
he stopped… two inches from her pretty pursed lips
and quietly asked her, “By the way, what’s your name anyway?
I only know you as Green Girl.”

The princessy ogress was shocked and dismayed
and she realized that Georg wasn’t really a knight;
but rather an ogre who had mixed up his name
            And who obviously couldn’t spell right…
            Who spells ogre with two g’s??

all in the game of nightmarish delight.

The princessy ogress woke up with a start,
quite happy to realize that it was still dark.
She pulled up her blankets and laid down her head
on those pillows of clouds with blankets of down;

and “Throwing in Imagination” again,
she dreamed of the day
that her true knight would come…
And take her in his 4 foot 12 arms
and say…
“Oh, my dear…
You’re the best one!
You are definitely a keeper!”
            Really, she wanted to be the keeper…
            -the keeper of his heart

But then she realized something wasn’t quite right!
            (She was in the wrong poem!
            But to be nice
            let’s just say a different review…)

This nameless knight treated her kindly,
especially through the Texas Tornado,
His devotion was perfect.
His demeanor was charming,
and when he smiled…
Well, it was disarming!

Within 2008 hours of their first meeting
he graciously asked for her hand in marriage;
but, she was still dreaming and therefore replied,
“I have to curl my hair first!”
            As she heard herself say it
            she thought to herself…

            that was probably not
            the most
“wonderful word choice!”

She shook her head
as she got out of bed—
still wondering why her dreams had been cloudy
but grateful, for once, that her dreams were not true !

This part is hilarious can you imagine someone actually saying that?

OH my! Oh my! girls, keep the peace! this Oggre (should I say Georg?) with four feet, twelve arms and a strong libido, thinks that the more you have the merry the caresses; I am all cushy cushy inside to have got inside the dream of so lovely ladies in the raw between silk sheets.
This oggre (spelling Georg?) is wearing a very satisfied smile this morning.
