Building Fences

A metaphorical take on a recent incident...

You were

a barrier

to what I wanted most--

A secluded spot

where security

and peace and love abound.

I took a stand

to shut you out

and planted posts

a mile deep, at least.

Like a thief

in the night

you damaged my spot

when you came

to steal my posts--

my planted roots…

and upset my fragile stand.

Swimming upriver

I fought to recapture

the beginnings of my fence--

My key to peace,

guard to serenity, &

stanchion to my security…

I stretched a web

of woven chains

to protect me from your harm,

but the damage

has been done

and I realize you have won

for you showed me

there are holes

in my fence.

The holes in our fence are the holes into our heart. This was a great expression of the vulnerability we have even when we think we can shut it off..........Jerry

THIS REMINDS ME OF THE 'FENCES' THAT ONE BUILDS BETWEEN THEMSELVES AND JESUS CHRIST AND THEN....'FOR YOU SHOWED ME THERE ARE HOLES IN MY FENCE'....THAT ONLY 'HE' CAN FILL. THIS IS A UNIQUE LOOK AT THE PAINS ONE WILL GO THROUGH TO PREVENT WHAT IS BEST FOR THEM. A WONDERFUL WORK THAT IS WELL DONE. THANKS FOR SHARING AND BLESSINGS.

Somehow this confirms that "the enemy is a good friend". It may be painful, but it's best way to learn about oneself.

intelligently written metaphor ... when we realize there are gaps in our defenses, and are vulnerable to others whims, we feel exposed and unguarded ...

Yikes. A fence with holes in it is a very interesting metaphor for life in this uncertain and sometimes hostile world. Hugs, J'nia

Some with bigger holes to fill.

Bless are them that can see the holes on their fences, because them will know from where the malice will enter.

Moving poetry. No matter how much we web chains around our heart, sometimes our defenses are shattered. Excellent writing.

Dear Cryssa, This is a nice poem but reading it I was really touched.
No matter how many holes seem to be in your fence you are always protected, laughs best who laughs last. Wait and see and keep your dignity. Love Emile
