I wrote this many years ago about friends I met online.
It is a love of kindness For few have ever heard You are the closest friend to me And why I use this word My love of friend is special This word to show I care It’s not the love of holding you In passion to be shared So freely thought I use this word So easily confused It's only with my dearest held Is this word to be used And giving of my heart It is a love being there Should your world fall apart Copyright ©2008 Ed J

Many confuse love and have no understanding of it's meaning. Therefore the friend would not know

Friend ... love ... a beautiful part of life, there for the offering and there for the taking, written by one who obviously knows the true meaning of friendship.

Ed you have this down pat the word love is used too freely, I have always thought of this word as something we do. I really like this one and thank you for sharing.
