In His Tiny Pockets!
In my son’s tiny pockets are the treasures he had found.
If I forget to look, little frogies are in my washer spinning round.
So since that day it first happened, I try to be more aware.
Of all those precious treasures his pockets hold, & he keeps in there.
One day as I searched his filled little pockets I was truly stunned.
For in his little pocket was his sister’s ribbon from her pretty bun.
Annie passed away last year and he since never mentions her name.
Why now is this beloved ribbon here, does he feel somehow to blame?
What was he doing with her yellow ribbon that I had tucked away?
It is too precious to me and certainly too costly to be used for play.
He returned home, as I stood there with her ribbon in my hand.
“Son, don’t you know how disappointed & how angry I am?”
“But Mommy, I didn’t think you’d mind for I took it everywhere.”
“I wanted Annie to be with me, to know she was always there.”
“I took her on a bike ride and we went skating in the park.”
“She had so much fun mommy. so we stayed til’ it got dark.”
“Mommy, I didn’t want Annie to miss all the fun things I do.”
“And I didn’t think you’d mind, for she had a good time too.”
Oh my darling son, don’t you realize she lives within your heart. AND
Annie will stay with you forever my darling, she will not depart.

I can hear Dolly Parton reading this, even making a country classic like Coat of Many Colours out of it.
Best wishes, Bonnie!
The heart does go on!
