Sometimes friendship is painful but the rewards of having one are unlimited and unmeasureable love.

Nothing Like Them!
 
Sometimes you reach out to someone and get kicked in the teeth.
You want to close up like a clam to get some pain relieve.
But if you do, you deny who you really are,
Someone truly caring, someone who reaches far.
 
Keep reaching out to those that are in terrific pain,
If they constantly rebuke you, try and try again.
Nothing in this world is more valuable than our friends,
The material things don’t matter nor do all the new trends.
 
For when you’re down and out and someone lends a hand.
 They not only lift you up but they also help you stand.
There is nothing like them, you can search the whole world-wide,
Than finding that special friend, who is always by your side.

There are friends and they are best friends.One best friend is all you need.Someone who will be there for you even if you don't need their support or as you put it delicately,get kicked in the teeth.I've been there for my friends and they always appreciated it one way or the other.Take good care Bonnie

Bonnie... this is more true than many realize...so the more often we talk about it....well... maybe...it will touch someone who needs it. I like that you say that sometimes a person does a kindness and gets kicked in the teeth..because that does happen far too often... however; we generally learn from those...and if our heart is pure...we just keep on being what HE wants us to do... :-)) Nice writing.. lindalaw
