Today is your 1st day at School

A day i will remember

A lovely fresh and sunny day

The 6th day of September

You got dressed in your uniform

A lump came to my throat

You then put on your polished shoes

Then finaly your coat

I felt so proud as you did walk

So grown up by my side

I thought of how you've grown so much

And how the time has flied

We walked into the cloakroom

you hung your coat upon your peg

then slowly in the classroom

you cling firmly to my leg

then suddenly you saw the train

the farmyard,paints and toys

and looking round the classroom

it was full of girls and boys

Im so glad that i spent the time

With you on your 1st day

I'll keep the special memory

Its in my heart to stay

To see you grow from a baby

Into a lovely boy

You 1st day at school my sweetheart

Has made me proud and give me joy
