This is so sad. I think so much of these diseases have to do with peer worship. If only we could see the good that others see in us our shortcomings wouldn't matter that much. People tend to set goals for themselves and if they don't achieve them they are devastated. They don't realize that half a goal is better than none at all. When I read poems/stories such as yours I often think of Karen Carpenter. A young girl with a golden voice who died so young because she wasn't satisfied with her weight. Lost to this dreaded disease. What a waste of life. Sorry to bend your ear, please forgive my ramblings but your poem set me off. Peace, Love and Blessings to You and Yours Always, Paul.
