The Color of Love

Seasons arrive and leave like her feelings.
After time dilutes her memories
she fades … becomes a blank page
of unmapped space
almost virgin territory.
When her sentiment was choked by contempt
darkness carried her heart to its hiding place
where tender wounds defined her vulnerability.
Her fever was bathed in ice
and love went underground.
Water colors smear her paper because
she has lost the color of love and
everything is a shade of gray.

This man does not surrender to peace and new life.
He invites reels of forgotten tape to replay, finds
reason for revenge. She was not his property and he
didn’t know he owned no deed.

nice...bitterly sad expression of an ended relationship. deep-set anger and resentment bubble beneath the surface of these words leaving me to picture 2 sad angry people both 'losing their life color and fading to empty grey'.
