They got married in a hurry ,

and he told her not to worry .

Then he left her for another

And moved in with his new lover .

There was nothing more she could say

She left the city for the bay .

Now she sits and stares into space ,

And wipes off the tears from her face .



After they split she never said

anything of the child they'd made .

In his eyes there's so much to say ,

to the Father who went away .



Its ten years now since he's been gone .

It was hard but she carried on ,

Life was hard raising up a son .

But she did what had to be done .



By the bay the lonely waves break

And some nights it keeps her awake .

On the wet edge of her pillow

She weeps hard just like a willow .

Her bank account now is empty ,

And the hard times are a plenty ,

Sometimes she thinks that she should say

Of the boy who lives by the bay .



He doesn't know he is breathing ,

He doesn't know she is grieving ,

He doesn't know what happened there

He just left her in her despair .

He has never contacted her

He doesn't know his son is there .

So he lives there in the city ,

Isn't it an awful pity ?
