Sailing from Mattru Jong to Bonthe Island

This poem describes a journey by boat from Mattru Jong to Bonthe Island in Sierra Leone, during which the beauty of the landscape and the peaceful rocking of the boat provide a welcome respite from the stresses of daily life. The journey is described in detail, including the passage through mangroves and sandbars and the setting of the sun as the destination is reached.

In the land of Sierra Leone,

Where the palm trees sway,
A journey by boat was planned
From Mattru Jong to Bonthe Island that day.

The sun was high in the sky
As we set sail on the sea,
The waves gently rocked the boat
As we journeyed far from the city.

We passed by mangroves and sandbars,
As the wind blew through our hair,
The salty air filled our lungs
As we left all our troubles behind.

The journey was long and tiring,
But the beauty of the land
Made it worth the ride,
From Mattru Jong to Bonthe Island's sand.

As we neared our destination,
The sun began to set,
The colors of the sky ablaze
As the day came to an end.

We stepped off the boat
As the waves crashed on the shore,
Grateful for the journey
From Mattru Jong to Bonthe Island once more.
