A Mellow Yellow Fellow

Being a mellow yellow fellow, I love everything yellow. In my mind, this started out as a children's book. My family wisely thought it was not worth the green. I had fun thinking it up anyway and wanted to show you why I am not a poet.

I am a mellow yellow fellow

Sending you a great big “Hello”

I wear a mellow yellow hat

And am sitting on a mat

I wear mellow yellow jeans

That I’ve had since my teens

I wear a mellow yellow shirt

Without a speck of dirt

I have a mellow yellow smile

That goes a country mile

I have mellow yellow fan

To help me get a tan

I have a mellow yellow roar

Don’t let me be a bore

I will lend my mellow yellow hand

To anyone across the land

I have a mellow yellow bike

Which I am sure you are going to like

I live in a mellow yellow home

From which I rarely roam

There is a mellow yellow mouse

In that mellow yellow house

I have a mellow yellow cat

Who plays the pity pat

His mellow yellow fur

Just makes me want to purr

I have a mellow yellow dog

Who is sitting on a log

I play ball with a mellow yellow bat

Now what do your think of that?

There is a mellow yellow clock

That has lost its key and lock

I have a mellow yellow top

That does not want to stop

I have a mellow yellow rug

That I must often give a tug

I have a mellow yellow jug

That I liked to chug a lug

I have a mellow yellow car

With wheels that are made of tar

I have a mellow yellow hog

That attracts the neighbor’s dog

I have a mellow yellow bird

Who likes to eat wild curd

I ran into the mellow yellow door

Oh boy my nose is sore

Outside In my mellow yellow yard

Lie rocks and stones so hard

And there is a mellow yellow plant

Being walked on by an ant

In my mellow yellow chair

I brush my yellow hair

It is a mellow yellow day

Take a look across the bay

Want to rake the mellow yellow hay?

I wonder what you’ll say

In my mellow yellow bed

Many books I have read

I eat on a mellow yellow table

Stamped with a manufactures label

I bathe in a mellow yellow tub

In which I do a rub a dub dub

I have a mellow yellow phone

Shorty uses when he his home alone

The dog chews on to a mellow yellow bone

Shaped like an ice cream cone

My mellow yellow pig

Does a wild dancing jig

There is a mellow yellow book

For the mellow yellow cook

In the mellow yellow boot

You can find my spending loot

I love mellow yellow jelly

It seems to fill my belly

I adore my mellow yellow ring

It makes me look like a king

I eat mellow yellow fruit

And I don’t really give a hoot

Mel the mellow yellow doll

Hangs on the southern wall

There is a mellow yellow shoe

Belonging to who knows who

On the stove is a mellow yellow pot

Filled with all sorts of rot

I play a mellow yellow horn

No need to show alarm

I hang my coat on a mellow yellow hook

Would you like to give a look?

I have a mellow yellow leaf

In between my yellow teeth

I use a mellow yellow hoe

Ouch, I dropped on my toe

The baby lies in a mellow yellow cradle

That is very strong and stable

I sail my mellow yellow boat

Don’t let me get your goat

I fly my mellow yellow plane

Please don’t complain

Did I tell you about the mellow yellow rag?

Oh! I think I you are going to gag

Not every thing I own is mellow yellow.

The head of the bed is red.

I personally love the color yellow, so I did love this write. So uniquely thought up. I don't see why children would not like it. It is so sweetly put and things are naturally said in it.

This gave me a good chuckle... I found it to be a tad bit like reading Dr. Suess's "Green Eggs and Ham". But, as Karen mentioned, you really need to add the Mellow Yellow Song... :~)
Delightful read. :~)

Absolutely adorable! Say do you also have the song "They Call Me Mellow Yellow" too?? Think it was by Donavan. Fits right into your fabulous collection...

Be always safe,
Karen
