There’s a dense cloud of solitude tonight,
across the courtyard, the streets, and the park.
I see the autumn’s frost, clinging to the window
of our empty bedroom, that’s no longer warm.
The colorful maples, cast away their leaves,
to blanket the sidewalks, and the lonely streets.

From this silent room… so mournfully quiet,
I hear the music and the drunken laughter
coming from the tavern, just around the corner.
Then an out-of-tune, staggering bohemian,
stops beneath the window, bellowing the blues.
With my spirit broken, I too sing along,
but, I sing the lyrics of another song.

The glow of a streetlamp, brightens up the room,
and I read the words of your good-bye note.
With my knotted throat, I scream out in silence
and stare at the door—that you left ajar.
Then a lake of tears, flowing from my soul,
overwhelms with sorrows, my broken heart.

Questioning my fate, I gaze out my window,
searching for an answer, in the starless night.
Then I hear a whisper creaking by the door,
And I turn to look hoping for your smile,
but with disappointment, and watery eyes,
I watch as the wind draft, slams the door shut.

Written by an artist. your almost 'paited words' live and breath an honest hearts lament.

You take the reader into that solitary world. Such vivid descriptions and viable ambience.

you never know what you have until you loose it. Sad but true. Liked the structure of the poem. Self reflection is always the best tool for writing.

Such sentiments of dispair and yet realization too, very creative...

You create a poignant moment and sustain it meaningfully right to the end. Well done!
