Slowly she walked up the hill
Head down, heart broken
She didn’t see the sun shining
The flowers were crushed beneath her feet
He had left her and she saw no tomorrow
No happiness or hope in her future
She reached the top of the hill and sat
Searching for a reason to go on
What happened on that hill, I can’t say
Was it a religious experience
Or a sudden awakening to hope
Who knows
But a different woman came back down that hill
She came down under a sun burning bright
Admiring flowers along the way
Birds chirped and bees buzzed
And she was alive with it all
He had left her yes, and taken a bit
Of her happiness
But her life was hers and only she could give it up
For today, she chose to live
And once chosen, life began anew
Her broken heart began to mend
