I’m paying for my misspent youth
I thought it didn’t matter back then
Didn’t the white rabbit say feed your head
I figured if one was good, two was better
If high was nice, higher was excellent
Sure wish I’d cared a little more
Listen up, youngsters, don’t tell yourself
It doesn’t matter what you put in your body
it will someday, the cost will be more
than you really want to pay
Care a little more, trust me you won’t be sorry
Plan for those later years when sick is more
Than a morning hangover, a hard time coming down
You laugh and say’I’ll die an early death anyway’
But you don’t really mean it and someday
You’ll pay for those words, just like I am
So please, care a little more… think about it
If you don’t need it, if it isn’t worth it later
Why do it now
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not on a self righteous kick
I’m not saying don’t play, don’t have fun
But for God’s sake, if its made out of shoe polish
Maybe it shouldn’t go into your body
Maybe that’s extreme but you know what I mean
I was lucky to have experience lsd 25
I wouldn’t trade the experience for much
But the crap that’s out here now can hurt you
If not now, sooner or later
So please before it’s too late
Care a little more
I wish I could go back and undo some of the things I have put into my body. Like you said, it does matter. Not so much on my present health but while under the influence of whatever I missed out on doing something really important. On experiencing a different more realistic aspect of life. But the ones who want to do it will do it despite what you or I say. Thanks for saying it anyway.

everything in life has its consequences. i maintain that some of us have traveled thru hell to be the examples of what not to do for someone else. i could get an award for those. the one grand thing is that we have survived, in a sense, those mistakes and we are not so bad for them.......look at our blessings. you are one of them.
hugs and love always, my friend

How true. If you play, you pay. Make sure you can afford it.

this was a very wise and inspirational write excellent job on thsi my own motehr and father did a lot of drugs and well i got the physical and verbal abuse from it when they were on drugs or alcohol so yes drugs aare not a good thing
when i said i had tried lsd25 and would'nt' trade the experience, it was against the whole grain of this poem but i have to let it stand as written i guess, it would be phony to change it. i sympathize with you loss tom, no drugs are good, i'm just realistic and know words wont' change many minds. but i have to try
Hi Sue,
I lost my best friend, he was seventeen, some clever person put lsd in the sugar bowl in a cafe, he crashed into wall at a 100mph totally out of his mind, never touched a drug in his life, certainly changed our lives.
Wise words will they heed them, doubt it.
