It’s lonely in this world we’ve built
Oh there are lots of people
Record numbers of people and we talk
At least, our mouths move, we speak
We say non-consequential things
Cause God forbid we say anything relevant
Which might also be offensive
So we say, nice day, lovely weather
Or terrible weather, but quickly, I’m sure it will improve
Never know they might be related to a meteorologist
Wouldn’t want anyone’s feelings hurt
Because we hate snow and ice, no of course
We talk, we ask how are the kids, the hubby
We would never say are you dealing with your kids
Drug problem, your husbands sexual transgressions
We would never say, no actually, I’m not fine
I’m lonely and I worry about getting older alone
I miss the kids’ cause they all grew up so fast
And life just hasn’t been the way I expected it to be
Hell we don’t even say, yes life is wonderful, I’m too happy
For words, why make someone else feel bad if they aren’t as happy
It’s a lonely world we live in, but it doesn’t have to be
Lets try talking, really talking, see if we can’t find some depth
In this life grown too shallow, some warmth in this
World grown too cold…. Let’s talk
communication is so important...coming to terms with the conditons of life, not so easy... very nice voice and perspective within this piece...

Sue, I think you have a lot of truth in your work. But you don't need to stub your toes. I am too forward sometimes and say what I think once in a while and it gets me in trouble. Then, I pull back and sugar coat the truth. I guess because I like to get nice comments on my work. What would
happen at AD if everyone spoke honestly about something they read? There would be a lot of unhappy campers. The only place I draw the line is when my life is threatened.
That has happened twice. Even then I do not feel hatred but pity for those who feel
inferior and have to use threats to make their petty lives meaningful. The most important feature at this site is not the comments from others. It is the "hits" others put onto your site. They are important ... very. And I am always looking at them first. That is how I determine if some of my poems/songs are better than the others. Hugs Bill
