I Cried All Night Long

I cried all night long
It was the longest night I can remember
I cried for youth lost and
Elderly neglected
For soldiers dying
And AIDS victims infected
I cried all night long last night
There is so much sadness
In the world in which we live
So much hunger and need
So little solace to give
I can't cry for every child I see
Hungry and under dressed
I can't hurt for every mother i know
Overworked and over stressed
But neither can i forget them
The live with me every day
I carry them around with me so long
Pressure finally gives way
And i cry for all thats wrong
For wrongs that can't be right
For hunger I can't feed
For battles I can't fight
And then so I can handle it all
I tuck it back a way
I continue on with my selfish life
Saving the tears for another day

Sue, excellent. I guess as you pointed out, without our selfishness how could we go on knowing that others around us suffer. The difference though is to still care about the others and do when we can, what we can do for them.
