The Maiden Part 1

She walked softly, with the grace of a doe
One foot in front of the other
No time to think or plan
The time had come for action
And she knew there was no other course
Her breath fogged lightly
In the cold night air and she shivered
There would never be another night like this one
No other trek like the one she was on
She was a virgin going to her lover
And there was no going back
Not that she would have chosen to go back
She went forward willingly and happily
Because the man who awaited her
Was the man she loved
And what more could any woman ask
Than to love her chosen mate

Through the Amazon by S. Oliver Eldridge
