WHAT MANNER OF WOMAN

This s a reflection of all the :might have beens" had my child survived.

 

 

What Manner of Woman
 
What manner of woman would you have become
Child of mine, love of my life
Would you have been the beauty that shone
Through the throes of puberty
Retaining a lively wit and comic antics
Long since lost, yet still mourned
 
Would your quick intelligent mind
Grow ever brighter, tempered by maturity,
Enhancing both beauty and ardor
for those who loved you
What manner of man would you have chosen to love
Who would have loved you in return
 
Would your children be so fortunate
To be as you were, so nearly perfect
Full of life, intensity and naive trust
What manner of woman would you have become
Child of mine, love of my life
As the scars on my soul fade slowly
But refuse to fully heal
I can only wonder

A soulful expression, Micki, surely sharing more the depth of your pain at the loss of your dear Noelle.

I see this poem was written but one week after your posting of your poem "Heartache." I hope your continued writing eases the acute intensity of your pain, even as your readers share in your emotional journey.

micki, your words are so beautiful and give such tribute to your lost child, sometimes it is so hard to let go, i know i have the same feelings for my mother and friend. cherish her and pay as much tribute as your heart desires, that is the love we feel that will never die, even after the mourning and pain have subsided.

Hello Micki,

Your poem speaks so eloquently of a mother's heart and longing,
for truly the umbilical cord that connects mother and child is never
truly cut. Great poem!
