Dogs are man’s best friend
Wag their tails and let them in

A cold meal, a pat, and lot’s of trust

They don’t talk back and second guess
Treat us like a favorite guest
Walks outside to keep us company
Animals who love reveal the irony
For those who choose a four-legged creature
To nurture and love a special teacher

Next time you decide to choose a friend
Think of cold noses, wet feet, and pretend
A bark invites and gives us hope
Brings pleasure to those who dare to cope
With life’s loneliness and past regret
Do yourself a favor and love your pet

Thank God for dogs who don’t require much
Just a stroke on the head and gentle touch
They will defend you until they die
