Since the age of 15
Michael wanted to leave his home.
He couldn’t bear to put his mother
Through the pain of losing her son
So instead
He sits in pain with his dreams
Of moving west to the promised land
George on the otherhand, DID leave home at 15
In search of the same better life as Michael
He made it far,
Purchasing bus tickets and even hopping a freight
He made it from Chicago to the base of the sierra nevadas
In Northern California
He sits, still today,
Under the shade of an enormous California pine
He has no money, he has nobody, but he has escaped
He is happy
