Up in the air scares, count on the others
To rotate as flight attendants. Need
A pillow? Blanket? It's no bother.
Like a drink? Sugar, Splenda, let's see. . .
Just a little turbulence. In great hands!
Air pockets expected. See you brought a book.
Love adventure myself. Mystery, romance.
Clouds like ice sculptures, look!
Oh, Dickens! Hard Times. Know it well.
Mr. Micawber icing wings with facts-facts-
Facts. Droning on. . .friend from Hell.
Times we need a coat of sugar. Fact!
Bette Davis said it. It's a bumpy ride.
Gravity tugs on the best of us.
Can't always help each other fly.
"Shoulda took the bus!"
Times when "Attendant" fails to
Attend or "Passenger" has a snit.
Not like we're fitted with halos,
But try to save? Bet on it!
Trees, see? Not a bad flight.
Didn't have a single fight!
This poem brings me comfort and hope
Phyllis as I do not like to fly! very
encouraging. I enjoyed the read!
May the Lord continue to bless and
inspire you Phyllis! Thanks!
I can be a bit uneasy when flying and that nasty scent of jet fuel can kind of put a kink in my stomach. All in all, I like flying in small, private planes much more than in the big birds. Big birds always go where I am going, though and in the private planes, I am just a friend going along for a nice ride. I liked this poem and there are, indeed, times when we are on our own, no matter who is traveling with us. Merry Christmas, dear Pea and a very happy, healthy and prosperous New Year.
Take care,
Sherry
Ahhh, Pea! Memories of my first flight, hitting turbulence...I was stone-faced and white knuckled. That was many years and air miles ago. You've captured the "fear of flying" with grand humor!
Blessings and Love - Micke
don't mind flying, it's the taking off that throws me. But once in the air I'm okay. Love the write. A real slice of us. Don't always like what's in the mirror. Insightful. Liz
Used to love to fly. Now prefer to keep my feet on the ground ... but will fly anywhere to be with you, (((Pea))), if only in verse - and honey, you sure know how to pilot 'em. Not a cloud, not an air pocket, one. Smooth as silk. :) Well done!
I'll surely have cocktails in the near by friendly jacked up price lounge first....and dream of the cruise...the islands...

Pea,
Your elegance of thought is once again deliberately casually expressed, and that makes it truly elegant; this is a flight worth the turbulence and the confinement...and I land safely with you.
Close quarters, engine better not fail, friendships fly for all seasons...wear some smell nice, toss the ear plugs and play charades at the height of eagles! Gulp the champagne, use the peanuts for poker ante...deck of cards secure Royal Flush on the way back to the tin privy...hea, share the pillow with you, Pea...it's a long flight...Happy Holidays my colorful friend! I said FRIEND...yea, that's a nice word...thank you always Pea, for being a FRIEND...
