Guess you could call this semi-fiction. Not me, but it is? Partly an attempt to sustain a metaphor that I became obsessed with, partly. . .I don't know. Worked hours and hours, still isn't right. Don't think it's bad, just never got a good hold. Guess it's the hairline cracks [understand after you read]. Some wider. . .sorry. Thing either speaks for itself or doesn't. xOx Pea xOx

I broke.
Don’t ask.
How do you think
about keeping count
when you’re in shards?
Caused some breakage,  I
confess.    Fed up with
apologies, mine most of all.
All the sorries in the world
won’t resurrect dead love.
No lost-and-found for
a relationship tossed out
in the cold.

Got company, true .   Some of us bring
ourselves to talk about how we had to
thicken our skin before we could repair
ourselves.   Learned that a rough scar
can be put to use.   Crazy Glue won’t
stick to slick.  We help each other
remember to keep safe.  Keep glue
where we can get at it.  Not that watery
crap fell off some truck, the good stuff.
You learn to keep an eye out for leaks
and sudden changes in temperature.
Secure caps for others, if need be.
Glue is bad to want to stick to itself.
And how!    To think how much
I have thrown away.

If you have closed in the belief that it will
keep you from falling apart, re-open!
Into fixer-uppers, so feel free to call.
Long as you don’t expect perfect.  Oy!
Joke is that these  hairline cracks “invite
fresh air.”   “Art by Salvador Dali-!”

All fragile, Love.   Got delicate edges
we need help with.  People who bolster
by encouraging us to be proud.   Leave
arrogance to cowards seek weak spots
to kick.   --Know what?   I am starting
to feel like me again. . .only younger.

So good to laugh.
No joke.

Fantastic! Usually I find one or two "to die for" lines but this piece is chock-a-block full of them. You have written a "Sarah Vaughn" poem. Artistry laced with sass and attitude. I could go on forever but instead - BRAVISSIMO!

Wow, from feelings of love to despair. From despair back to love, hopefully the glue will hold it together. Then there is always me.:)

GOD BLESS YOU
Tony

'...a rough scar can be put to use'...this I hear in ringing tones, Pea, a strident bell.
There's no fudging or holding back here, we take this on the chin and are the better (and hopefully the wiser) for it.

Golly, Pea, you wrote my life. Stepped on, broken, down but NOT out -- much strength in resilient lines of survival of the fittest. Well done, my dear.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

I love this attitude and outlook, it is never easy to pick our hearts up off the ground when they fall and get stepped on but pick them up we must. Your poem is honest and real and though sad...also strong with the will to survive...good stuff.

Great piece and you walk us through those times in life that become very trying. Yet, we must get through it all and take the good with the bad. Glad you are feeling better...

Be always safe,
Karen
