*This is a revised piece I originally posted in 2002. I am attempting to address the difficulty and depression some relationships go through when taking care of a loved one who is either ill or disabled. It also is intended to inspire those who give freely and make these sacrifices that they are not alone and the Creator does reward those who persevere and the loved one's life is made better.
"Dream Dancer"
You were overexposed to vanadium wishes
while I stayed up with bags under my eyes
your mythological youth fit for such illusions
a foregone conclusion that is best left behind
your dominion was a lemon in the summer
a cathedral full of white candlelight wisdom
where women in black broke the silence
and kissed in the absence of their fears
yet at times I would wrench at thoughts
that depression in my mind would win
if I were to lose in a battle of perseverance
struggling to balance life on this needle
as my body would decompose in the end
you balanced my nerves in the confusion
as I closed my mind and heart to suspicion
from stereotypes that lingered in shadows
and from that moment I was no longer blind
your innocent smile was veritably rendered
we touched in the maze of ancient dreams
where our purpose together was linear
like an endless circle filleted end to end
where calm waves of harmonics existed
in the deep neon blue wink of an eye
your breath was an incredible absence
where heaven cascaded into pools
where I found myself lost in the vacuum
and asphyxiated in between heartbeats
I found you still asleep in your wheelchair
your hands stretched across lifeless limbs
your soul had been dancing to the music
that I played for you on the piano that night
Wow I truly hope this is a just a beautifully written
Poetic verse becaouse is very sad and emotional piece
That brings many sad memories to mind
Your words captured a true to life vividness and imagery
I could see and hear the piano play!
This Amor is trully a Masterpiece!!
Wishing you Love Peace and hugsss...Morning Star
((((( Amor ))))), I hope this is just a poem. But there is so much emotions written into this and yet, I could really imagine that piano play into emotional climax. That is what makes this piece a masterpiece.
I know how it is to care for a loved one. My hubby has been ill for quite some time now. There doesn't seem to be much that the doctors can do but just to give him the medication. I do feel the empathy here. Take good care of yourself.
WOW! This is a powerful poem Amor
a heartfilled gem!

Your wonderful poem has heartfelt strength for those who have tread the path of those lonely and emotional days while caring for a sick loved one. I've borne the mile for both my parents and easily identify with those who have taken on similar responsibility. Your goal to address this "love volunteered" is worthy and your pen tenderly complementary.
Your work brings back reflection and memory of a time passed...an extremely well written piece that places one in view of the very thoughts that encase us within thoughts for loved ones in the arms of our Creator...
I always loved this poem....and it is so true...you reap what you sow.... seeds of love always bring bountiful things! Your reward...many blessings my friend!
Wonderful! and you are correct we are never alone even though we feel that way sometimes. You have touched on a topic that few know how to put into words.
Amor I am sure this will help those who find themselves in this situation
this kind of piece is timeless because I am sure there is someone
who faces this at this moment and moments to come

It takes a special person to caregive. The squeemish and the selfish stand out when the chips are down. There are some who have no inner strength to cope with illness. I applaud those who do caregive. They are saints. It isn't easy; it takes its emotional toll; but sharing the end time with someone is so rewarding and precious. This is a beautiful tribute to those who do caregive, and to you, Amor. Beautiful work.
Karla was my caregiver last year when I was in the hospital and was so sick. Doing much better now, but am now disabled, trying to get on disability (denied twice, "not disabled enough". Yeah, RIGHT!! Appealed again, if denied again, we're getting a lawyer! I can't work again!). Powerful write that hits too close to home; very well penned, Amor!

This one hits close to home. The caregiver would do anything to will their loved one back to health, including sacrificing their own.
This was me, last year, when my twin sister was so sick. Thank God she made it.
Powerful, powerful--
