Neptunes' Daughter

you are Neptune’s daughter
irresistible nearly everywhere you go
your kaleidoscopic smiles reaching
to the distant corners of the world

the restless seas have a habit
of pulling the skies down like curtains
and it is in those uncharted depths
that you pull me in to you as well

the oceans of your anxious desires
drown out my impatient innocence
and the preponderance of your atoms
saturate me with the pain of pleasure

and armed with that latent knowledge
that you take pride in pulling me in
reminding me, I am a fish out of water
left on the coral shelf of your kingdom

and somehow before I realize it
I am seated at Neptune’s table
where I am a dolphin in your eyes
no longer skimming the tranquil surface

pearlescent eyes are everywhere
leaving me without a place to hide
and I know well that you look at me
as if I were merely a polished trophy

and you know and you hear everything
without listening to the beat of my heart
you negate the very birth of my soul
my music never penetrates your dreams

you laugh because I am a sensitive warrior
you dismiss all of my dreams like servants
then tell me to save them for a rainy day
as you disappear before I can answer

you really thought that it was my place
to stay and sew your torn horizons
so that I shall sit at your father’s table
making small talk with the watery night

but I will rendezvous with pulsating caution
under the weight uttered from your lips
as dear Neptune shakes his head in pity
in alliance with my need to fly free

and you may cry in each succeeding wave
in search of your most prized possession
but in the coral beds you shall not find me
for your father had therefore granted me wings

BRAVO! ARISE FROM THE DARK, DEEP DEPTHS OF HER WATERY GRAVE...USE THE FATHER'S WINGS AND FLY! FLY...UP! FLY...INTO THE WARMTH, ENERGY AND BRILLANCE OF THE SUN...SOAR! AND BE FREE! LEAVE HER SEARCH...FOR ONLY WHEN YOU ARE GONE, WILL SHE REALIZE THE 'DEPTHS' OF HER LOSS. A REMARKABLE WORK. I WAS WITH YOU THROUGH EVERY LINE AND I APPLAUDED WHEN YOU ESCAPED. GOD BLESS AND THANKS FOR SHARING THIS TREASURE. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

There's a sense of being caught-up and coming full circle to this defining moment. Some very beautiful lines in this work, Amor, as usual. A couple of my faves are "left on the coral shelf of your kingdom" - a wonderful way to express feeling taken for granted, and "to stay and sew your torn horizons" - such a sense of being meant for more than that. Great writing!

I remember this Amor. A bit different offering. You show us the dark side of seduction as perfectly as the joyful side.

... this is an amazing transformative stanza and I love the concepts and images you paint: wateriness and torn horizons work well together. You build charged emotions turning, heaving and changing so well in this mythical presentation, Amor. Neptune's Daughter is a strong force to be reckoned with and an enchanting title for a poem. xx

The tantalizing sea we come from. It begs us to come, but we cannot stay. Neptune's daughter awaits, as does Davy Jones locker.

Exceptional way of seeing, Amor,
the setting alone is exceptional
and the notion of this relationship
elevated well above mundane to exotic and deep
(literally and metaphorically);
a scene worthy of 'The Tempest'
