what is it that we have wasted
if not time we could have spent together?
living on the edge of our dreams
on the precipices of waking thought
we just happened on different planes
in the geometry of our awkward lives
taking the transit of broken promises
to a sea that yet overlaps the needing
the heart falters over the impossible
as it follows it’s haphazard course
slipping away in a hazy distance
awaiting a voyage of frustrations agony
we live no longer in the reality of life
but in the soft fringes of imagination
ghosts in the light of a blown candle
amid the shadows of yesterdays calm
what makes the world go around
when we have fallen in tangential lines?
away from reason and sensibility
into an endless sky of forbidden wants
we existed for the moment of knowledge
truly given birth in loves upper hand
but only to die upon its battered shores
to be fractured when once we were whole
to know love and yet taste its lacking
through the saltiness of bittersweet tears
understanding the futility of duty
and complying with belonging to life
we yearn in the moment we close our eyes
and resurface in the waves of destiny
stung by the realization of waking alone
even when we found ecstasy upon the edge
Spellbinding writing, Amor. I found myself being transported into the spell of your heartfelt love and sadness as you awakened to the lonliness of walking upon the edge of a fantasy alone. Beautifully executed and penned. My heart was pierced with the memory of a lost love such as this. My fault, I'm afraid.
Lament is what comes to my mind Amor. Beautiful, sad, an awakening, and yet, ecstasy upon the edge. Our lives are all about the climax of all things, bonding, sports, writing, life challenges, food, nature, religion..etc..etc. This one made me think about many things. I have found in my aloneness I have done great things pushed to that edge!
Powerful expression of the deep spiritual longing,
emotional hollow void and an inexplicable emptiness
that...lost love creates.
Great poem, Amor. Felt in chest...heart.
With warm regards Isabella.
The oft quoted argument, "anticipation is greater than reality" is put to the test here in what for me is a truly heartfelt and painful mirroring of something that was and that which still might be. Beautifully uttered, void of simplistic lost love rhetoric.
Much here to savor, much to be saddened by. Tasting love and its sublime feelings only to have it whisked away, to leave us empty and wanting is a sad occurrence that most of us can relate to . . .
