When I was too young to know you were my Mom
I recognized you by your smile and your hands.
Didn't know words, myself nor what was happening.
But, it was your gentle touch that understands.

Didn't know your voice, your moods or troubles.
But, I knew your songs, the joy you gave me and peace.
I knew your eyes, recognized you in a crowd.
No one paled you in the least.

Mom, from as far back as I can remember,
Your smile and care has kept me going.
And, if I was not studying your eyes, it was was your hands.
To me you were all-knowing.
