If I could be so honored
As to live in Jesus's day
Look upon the Saviour's face
Kneel at His feet and pray
Would I have followed Him
Left everything behind
Forsaken all I'd worked for
Things I considered mine
If I could be so honored
As to live in Jesus's day
Would I have hung on every word
My Jesus had to say
Would I touch the hem of His garment
So I would be made whole
Or would I walk beside my Jesus
Surrender my heart an soul
If I could be so honored
As to live in Jesus's day
Witnessed His hands cure the sick
Not one was turned away
Seen Him in all His glory
As He preached in Galilee
Marvelled at the miracle
As He walked on the raging sea
If I could be so honored
As to live in Jesus's day
Listen to His teachings
His every will obey
What would I have felt
As I walked close by His side
With the blessings Jesus gave me
My every need supplied
If I could be so honored
As to live in Jesus's day
How my heart would have ached
When they carried Him away
As they placed a crown of thorns
Upon His weary head
Would I have fell at his feet
Begged them to take me instead
If I could be so honored
As to live in Jesus's day
Would I have wiped his brow
Cried for Him to stay
Would I have screamed as they
Nailed Jesus to the cross
Knowing for all my sins
He had to pay the cost
If I could be so honored
As to live in Jesus's day
Look upon my Saviour's face
Kneel at His feet and pray
Linda, This poem is absolutely magical. However I feel that our times are not much different from 2000 years back. What about the terror, wars and racism and religious conflicts? The difference is technical. We compassion, love and faith. You are very gifted. Denise

Linda, such a beautiful tribute to Jesus. It shows your heart and soul and all the feelings inside of you. Someday you will be living in Jesus days; for they will come again. Hugs and God bless you my friend. Happy Easter ... Bill Murray

You honor Him in your days.....just by being your own true self.

breath-taking piece
but would you have really believed?

in these times we need more and more writings as such
Jesus was too much for a primitive world back then Linda. People were very narrow minded and mean. They believed in witches and magic curses. This is one reason God presented him at this time. These people really needed Jesus moreso than us. Even though Jesus met what seemed liked death and disaster back then, his influence helped change a primitive mean world. Jesus didn't go anywhere mentally, his human body did its job and the spirit lives on. Any life living in "AD", which is after the death of Christ, lives with Christ but in spirit. So, your poem is very good, you can still do everything you mentioned, only not physically. Figure the math. L&p G
You would have done all of those things, Linda. But I'm not so sure everyone would have. And I also fear that if Jesus lived today, in our severely depraved world, many would completely ignore him.
I think if I were living in Galilee two thousand years ago, and I happened upon the person of Jesus of Nazareth, what would strike me almost like lightening would be an overwhelming sense of being disarmed.
It would only be at such an encounter that I would discover the weight I had been carrying in weapons, both offensive and defensive, fears, concerns, facades, the need to somehow project myself as OK.
Meeting Jesus all of these things would suddenly be gone, because they would not work.
He Knows.
He sees you for who you really are, and there is absolutely nothing you can do about it.
I would stand there disarmed, unable even to reach for pretense to cover me.
This Jesus would welcome me and love me. I would know He has somehow been there, and it is OK, with Him, I am OK.
I do not believe I would see fig trees wither, the blind see, the dead rise, or anyone even attempt to walk on water, but I would see the love of God is more real than I could ever have prayed for, and I would drop everything to follow this man if He asked me.
Timeless wisdom and advice on the art of living for today’s young and old: The art of thinking, the art of loving, the art of working, the art of leadership, the art of growing old.

I have wondered these thoughts as well, Kind One.
