Silent tears flow to the floor
Can't take this half a life anymore
Depression prevails, I have lost
In agony I pay the cost
Bottle of pills in my shaky hand
Only the pain in me can understand
Are you listening God?
Little girl in a corner all alone
Hungry and scared but no one's home
Her body bruised , she cowers in fear
Her daddy stumbles in smelling of beer
She can't defend herself from his blows
The horror inside of her no one knows
Are you listening God?
In a crowded hospital, room 204
A man kneels down on the floor
He clutches tightly to his wife's hand
Her life slipping like grains of sand
In anquish he pray's for a cure
Cursing the pain she's had to endure
Are you listening God?
A soldier crunches on the cold ground
The darkness magnifies every sound
Warm blood oozing from his chest
Deep down he knows he's given his best
Crimson stains flow where he lies
While the wounded hero slowly dies
Very well done, with a great question. I often wonder if He(She) is listening. Then sometimes I wonder, if I just don't like the answer...

Very good Linda, and at times we wonder if God is listening to our prayers, especially now with the storm flooding everybody and tearing up homes. Keep up the good work.
Linda, a very well-penned emotive heart-wrenching plea, which clearly illustrates the need for divine intervention. Thank you for sharing your remarkable talent and timeless work my gifted friend. Take care and be well.
this poem grabs hold and doesn't let go 'til the end. i believe God is listening, but i know what it is like to believe God is not listening if there even is a God... (p.s. - think it's oozing instead of ozzing, right?) good to visit your site again... i've tracked you so i won't miss so many good writes from you. thanks,
I wondered many times during this year if God was listening. I've had a rough few months but, I know now that He was always there for me during those months.
God listens to us. He just waits for the RIGHT time to give us those blessings that we need. His timing is more important than ours as Human beings. Awesome poem, good job.
Hugs,
Jenny
Painful write. I wonder the same thing at times... though I must admit that the listening problem in my case is probably not god, but me.

Hello Linda,
I know exactly where you're coming from. I beleive that if God is there, that he either doesn't care, or is on holiday! Harm comes from mankind and help comes from mankind. Whether 'God' actually can hear, or want to help, is something we will never know!
is God listening? yes...He doesn't promise to be a "genie" type of God, instantly granting all wishes...but He does promise not to give you more than you can bear. He promises to be beside you every step of the way. He knows how you're feeling; He knows what it is to have pain.
power-packed, emotional dynamo, this write--well done!

The deep-dive literary meditations presented as stories, poems, and essays in The American Poet Who Went Home Again, A Mosaic of My Soul at Work, have captivated and inspired readers ever since its first paperback publication in 2008.
Just as life during the pandemic was color-coded with different hues representing different levels of danger, life in its aftermath has become shaded in similar ways. As a self-styled “Seeker of Beauty with Beauty,” (borrowing from a quote by W.E.B.

You have such a way with the heart Linda.
We just have to pray and hope.
Miss you,

Makes one think, doesn't it?
God is there though, Linda,
He is always there.
