You were always my hero
I looked up to you
When I had a problem
You would help me through
A leader in our church
Well admired in our town
No greater Christian man
Could ever be found
I put you on a pedestal
As high as I could see
I thought you hung the moon
...until you touched me
You were there to lean on
Whenever I was sad
The best Sunday School teacher
That I ever had
You were always first in line
To guide your fellowman
To give your heart and soul
Lend a helping hand
I thought you were my friend
But that was not to be
I had great respect for you
...until you touched me
Oh my, how I can relate to this. I spent 1.5 years of my teens believing that our youth pastor was in love with me...a married man with three kids. Until I found out that he was trying to feel up every other 12-14 year old girl in our group. Where do these people come from? Bless you Linda. I can feel your pain in this write. Truly I can. A sad thing, Linda that happens most every where. Unfortunate and can only be stopped by strong action. You always think of the downtrodden and the helpless.
Ouch Linda! You're written this so well, dealing with such a sensitive issue with style. You sure got your point across. How often it is the ones we trust that betray it?
Fantastic write!

Since the surge in media proliferation in the world, and especially in America, I have to say that I was and still am shocked at the amount of child moslestation that is reported and is happening. It is an epidemic and one that should be tended to harshly and decisively, but all too often the uncles, the daddys and the Sunday School Teacher is not punished in the way that they should. This poem id strong. And good. Strong and Good.
Dear Linda thia is truly a compelling and heart breaking poem. The loss of trust by a youngster for an adult is a real crime against children that is almost as hateful as the actual molestation. You have brought this home very sharply in this write, too bad molesters aren't forced to read these poems daily while serving their sentences.
