So many times I'd cry
While I watched the spirit within you
Shrivel up and die
You cannot breathe anymore
Smothered by his hand
I have been there , you see
You know I understand
He wants you under his control
No life of your own
Your self esteem is slipping away
Soon it will be gone

The courage to walk out

I once saw a woman getting a beating out of a brute and I was surprised that she did not run away. Instead she clinged to him and begged him not to leave her. How can a person become so addicted. It cannot be love surely. Great poem. Victor

Solid emotional write about a painful subject, abuse is somthing we hate to have happen to us but hate even worst to know it is happening to someone we love and we are powerless to do anything about it except pray.
