To the person holding a gun
Thinking its the only way out
Open your eyes and look around you
Find out what life's really about
There is sunshine after the darkness
Nothing stays the same
Ten years from now who will care
Who will place the blame
Take it one day at a time, friend
Look up , embrace the sun
No one wants to weep at your grave
When all is said and done
If they only knew...
To the person holding the pills
Tears falling to the floor
Glass of water by your side
You just can't take it anymore
Have the courage to be strong
Think of all the things you'll miss
A gentle breeze on your face
The tenderness of a kiss
Death is not a choice, my friend
No matter what others have said
There is no changing your mind
After they close the coffin lid
If they only knew...
To the person sitting in the darkness
To her wrist she holds a knife
Nothing to live for anymore
She wants only to end her life
How I wish I could make her listen
Somehow make her understand
Years go by and changes are swift
Please reach and take my hand
The world will turn, life goes on
Whatever you decide
But you won't hear the awful sound
When you mama cried
What a compelling write my friend, filled with wisdom! As a teacher I am finding more and more young children without their parent or parents due to various causes of suicide, mainly drug overdoses in our area. Such a sad thing for all involved...you've penned it well with emotion, thought, heart, spirit and soul! Well done, glad I stopped by this morning!
Blessings,
Joyce B.
Linda thank you for this poem. My first wife died from drug abuse and she was pregnant and when she tried to push out she had and implosion instead and smothered the baby: Had the baby been born he would have been drug dependent. It was a pitiful time in my life 34 years ago but I was preserved of God to tell this horror story. Drugs respect no titles race or gender, wrists are cut we people don't take time to listen, and pills are swallowed in dispair. We msut talk to one another and tell people how great God is! Peace!!!

Great writing sweet lady...have a wonderful and safe day...Hugs
Linda,
For so many people, this is so true. I've always wondered how anything in life could be so bad as to be worthy of ending one's life. If only, these people would have stopped to ponder all of the things and people they'd miss.
Linda, you've touched the pulse of despair and offered inspirational thoughts. I remember as a youth I had such troubling thoughts a few times. I think young people just don't have the experience with life yet to realize that despair is not a lifetime sentence. As they gain experience and knowledge about life and problem solving they will begin to understand that their feelings may be overwhelming at times, but they can begin to learn to control those feelings--and hopefully deal with whatever problems are at hand. Parents and schools need to teach them that important lesson. We also need God back in our schools again.
Always find it so disheartening at how many take their own lives and the reasons behind it all. You are right, if they only had faith they would have seen this is not the answer to the overwhelming hurt they feel....
Wonderful loving poem with advise I hope people hear. It doesn't stay dark forever, just a little while. Reach out and reach up. Lovely write, Love, Bonnie
Thank you for sharing this. In a way this poem reminds me of Kristen Anderson's story, which was featured on Oprah, the 700 club, and a Billy Graham Special, she tried to commit suicde by train, but she is alive today to tell her story and of God's Amazing Grace.
God Bless
