To see the sun.....
Its been so long since I
Felt its rays
Time moves on through
My darkest days.
Hour after hour tied
To this bed
People to bathe me
And see that I'm fed.
Days go by, they are
all the same
Staring out the window
at the pouring rain.
To see the sun.....
On my face once
Again
Burning its way into
My skin.
Playing hide an seek
Behind a tree
As a little child of
Only three.
Mama calling us in to
the table to eat
Daddy saying grace
Mama passing the meat.
To see the sun.....
Gently burning my face
Instead of being
In this place.
I cannot move...I
Cannot talk
Lord only knows, that
I can't walk.
I took for granted
Warmth from the sun
My childhood years
and just having fun.
To see the sun.....
Just one more time feel
its glowing light
I'd give my life for
that one delight.

Oh my sweet Lady Linda, how I identify with this poem as the hands of time are winding down for me. Never do we appreciate when we are young what we receive from God and nature. But as the hours close in and death approaches and we know each day we are a little closer ... then do we ponder our past and how nice it would be just to experience the joy of the Sun once more. This is a wonderful write darling as only you can do it. What a gift you have honey. Love from California and forever. Bill
So many things we took for granted when we were young,,,and now the youth has faded and and we have become seasoned with the harsh reality of aging. As hard as it is to face each day knowing that we can't even buy back that passed on day, we begin to look for anything that can just make us smile,,,well sometimes we have to search for it,,but it's there,,,so SMILE Linda,,great write,,,Lisa
'Better Without You'is a compelling narrative that explores the complexities of an affair, hidden secrets, and abuse. It also highlights a daughter's heartfelt journey as she cares for her mother who is battling dementia.
