She Should Have Lived

There are millions of women
in the world who cannot have
children. Millions of women
who could love and cherish the
millions of abused babies. There
is NO excuse for ever finding
babies in dumpsters or children
found beaten to death by their
parents or babysitters. This is
only my voice, but I say if you
don't want these children allow
them a loving home with parents
who will cherish them.

Poem Artwork

Headlines in the paper
Child abuse it read
Infant little girl
In a dumpster dead
Tears smear the letters
As silently I cry
There is not one reason
This baby had to die

For years I have ached
To hold and love
My own precious baby
Its all I've dreamed of
God has not blessed me
With kids of my own
This baby would be mine
If only I'd known

She could have had
Tender loving care
A Mommy and Daddy
To always be there
Shower her with the best
Of what I could give
Allowing this angel
A chance to live

She would have huggs
And kisses every day
A room full of toys
Where she could play
She would have grown up
In a loving home
Now every chance she had
In life is gone

In desperation she was
Placed in that bin
Did her Mother not
Realize the awful sin
Why didn't she think
Someone in this world
Would have cared and loved
This precious baby girl

Life is cruel at times Linda, this is one reason we must hold on and embrace the good light as much as possible. Being positive helps in the sad light. good rant of a poem. hugs G

Oh Linda, This deeply
touched my heart...
It seems that everytime
I listen to the news,
You hear of another helpless innocent baby
being victimized, by the
very hands of the ones
who were suppose to love
and nurture them...
I do not know how one
could live with theirself
after such a barbaric act.

There are many solutions
other than cold blood murder!!!

I appauld you for writing
this!!!!

this happens many times in NY... always in the headlines... very sad and tragic indeed!

my mother also wanted a child and was told it was scientifically impossible... she prayed to st.jude, had a baby and she died 3 days later... life is not fair but its how the cards are dealt, handed out by our previous lifetimes...

powerful write!

You capture the depths of feeling...the very depths.
You are one voice needed very badly.
I thank God for you.

Linda, you have the ability to bring me to tears like nothing or nobody else can. This is so sad and heartbreaking. To say I'm sorry is just not enough.
You've brought a horrid crime to light. Lisa

Touching, soul-wrenching write. It makes my heart cry to know that this happens out of ignorance and selfishness. This isn't an old sweater that we get tired of and throw out - these are innocent lives, *humans* with hearts and souls that we cheat out of life. The cruelty of this behavior is unconscionable and unforgivable. One thing is for certain: those innocent souls are back in the arms of God, comforted by His love and grace. Bless their hearts. ~jh
