how does the comfortable,
wonderful heaven we once knew
turn so quickly into
the cold, calculating hell that
we have to live through

where does it change
around what corner
do we not see the
demons that will eventually
control and devise
our demise.

clearly, we are not as
insightful as we once were

or maybe our vision is twisted,
measured by the future

or fearful of our loss
or what we may lose

either way,
hell is hell.
