This is for my grandson, Beau. 2002

Our first snowfall blankets the ground

Quietly it fell without a sound.

As I peer out the window on the mirth

I view the wonders of Mother Earth.

I am reminded of days gone by

Of wondrous laughter and children's eyes.

All three kids would beg and plead

To go outside, cold didn't matter, they didn't heed.

All bundled up, away they did go

Ready to romp and play in the snow.

Then, like a flash they were grown,

Away from the laugher once was sown.

Then came my grandchild, the love of my life

First in line and one of a kind!

He'd spend the night and hope and pray

He'd wake up to the first fallen flake.

Then it came, the snowfall so deep

He giggled and jumped, out the door so to seek.

Back in the house he ran, screaming, "Oh, Ga-E!"

Seeking better shoes and a coat not to freeze!

I searched the closet for my boots of size six

To place on his feet and a coat way too big.

It didn't matter if they didn't fit

In a world all his own, around he did flit.

But things, they do change and some go away

Not to be seen on this precious day.

I told you I would see you in things all so dear

And I saw you today in this snowfall so clear.

My mind is awash of you in my shoes

I miss you, my Beau, this snow is for you.

Mom,

I'm again reading this for the first time or blocked this from my mind.
