When Life's Too Much To Bear

Living in Atlantic Canada has its pros and cons....but I'll take the cold winters and snow just to have the ocean at my doorstep! There has always been great solace for me beside the sea!

Poem Artwork

When life’s too much for me to bear,
I stroll beside the sea.
The breeze, the birds, the ebbing tide,
All soothing sounds to me.

Sunshine warm upon my head,
Salt spray upon my face,
Treading o’er the sea washed stones,
I am comforted in this place!

Scanning the beach beneath my feet,
Now and then a sweet surprise,
When mermaid’s tears catch the sun,
And sparkle before my eyes!

You see, mermaids weep bejewelled tears,
And cast them upon the shore,
As I hold them tenderly in my hands
My heart begins to soar!

Such rare and beautiful treasures
Freely given by the sea!
Or do the mermaids watch the shore,
And toss the gems to me?

No room for woes and worries here,
I cast them upon the ocean,
She heals my weary, troubled mind,
And cleanses my emotions!

I think we all need such a place of solace, especially these days, and mine is the great northern woods.

THE WONDER OF GOD...HOW HE USES HIS NATURAL CREATIONS TO REVIVE AND STRENGTHEN US. THE OCEAN BRINGS BEAUTY TO THE EYES AND A WASHING TO OUR SOULS. WELL DONE, ANNABEL, ENJOYED THIS WORK FULL OF THE PHRASES, IMAGERY AND RHYME THAT INSPIRE AND SOLIDLY SUPPORTS ITS THEME. THANKS FOR SHARING AND BLESSINGS, LOVE,

Realistically beautiful while just a bit mystical. The constantly changing face of a shoreline, be it the Atlantic, the Pacific or a huge inland sea, water as fire can be mesmerizing and your words say it so perfectly.

This is so blessedly true, as another old maritimer currently under the weather, first thing I do when I get back on my feet is hit the beaches and stroll treasure ally.

Annabel,

I could feel the ocean mist upon my face. The beach is a great place to be. Well written, enjoyed.
