Your wrinkled brow, your loving smile,
You still look the same,
But you’re different nowadays,
And you don’t even know my name!
You voice is still familiar,
But you mumble quite a bit,
You used to have a lot to say,
Guess I’ll have to get used to it!
Grandma, they say you’re really sick,
But you look okay to me.
Except sometimes I think you’re scared
Of everyone you see!
I wish you were like you used to be,
We could do all the things we did.
But I know that wishes don’t come true ,
Even though I’m just a kid!
So, I’ll come to visit you every day,
And I promise I’ll hold your hand,
And even if you don’t know me,
I know you’ll understand.

So sad, so beautifully written. This touched my heart especially because my mother died of Alzheimer's. It's like you were writing about her, and I must tell you, I do have tears in my eyes. But thank you for writing this.
