All dressed up against winter’s icy chill,
Her little coat zipped to her chin
She happily bounces through the deep snow
Up to her chest on the wintry trail!
Her lively pace along with radiant sunshine
Changes the landscape into a glittering fairyland,
Quickly lifting me from my mid-winter slump!
The little snow angel, brown eyes smiling approval
Dances back and forth in front of me
Happy we ventured out into the frosty air!
Laughter at her antics echoes into the silence!
As she tears up and down the trail
Snow diamonds rise into the air
Every time she dashes by!
I hear the laughter again, a truly melodic sound…
And I realize it’s coming from me!
The little snow angel barks at the sound,
As though she’s laughing too…
And we chase each other around,
Our breath rising like clouds
Into the arctic chill of a winter’s day!
Then with snowballs on her whiskers,
Red roses on my cheeks,
We head back home,
My heart soaring once again!
The crisp fresh air is cleansing as,
Warmed from the inside
By a precious little snow angel
I’m dazzled by a glorious winter day!

This brings back memories of my German shepherd...he loved snow, too.
