And I never intend to let go of the child that still lives insde me! giggle

Poem Artwork

I once carried youth in my cache of dreams,
The one where I kept rainbows and butterflies.
How differently I looked at life back then!
Endless tomorrows on a bright horizon,
And time always on my side!
I saw life through the eyes of youth,
In that carefree blissful haven
Somewhere between what is and what might be!
But over the years, my cache slowly emptied
And my dreams weren’t always my realities!
There are still rainbows and butterflies,
But they’ve become more elusive
As time drifts by, more quickly now it seems!
Somewhere inside of me youth still lingers,
I’m still chasing dreams and butterflies
And gazing at rainbows in wonder!
For I believe youth never fades
In the eyes of those who can see
From the inside out!

To let go of the youthfulness of your mind is to let yourself get old. Hang on to youth as long as you possibly can. May God bless you every day of your life.

We must never get too far from our childhood. My childhood ended when I was 12 years old. But I still hold the dreams I dreamt, and will still see my life's goal completed. I agree that to return to the days of our youth, all we have to do is open our eyes and "see" those wonderful days of yesteryear. Always keep those rainbows and butterflies close at hand, and never let them go. Jesus told us that to enter the kingdom of heaven we must be like unto a child. He is telling us never stray from our childhood. Adults who are realists in this world, will never know what they are missing, because they have forgotten their childhood and how wonderful is really still is.

Before the dark days came, I was a happy girl, chasing rainbows and butterflies, and catching snowflakes on my tongue. I built snowmen, and went sledding, ice skating and a wonderful time. Then the sky darkened for me, and I was not to see light until years later when I regained my faith in God our father, and His son Jesus the Christ. Looking into our childhood is like looking in to a magic mirror. When our mind's eye sees how happy we were, then we are like unto a child. OMG! LOL. Look at me rambling on and on like some little school girl. But you know I'm proud to be that little school girl. Thank you for sharing, Anna.

May the Lord Jesus bless you, and those whom you love, and be with you always, and at your side constantly. With much love in my heart, joy to the world, peace on earth, & ((((((((((MANY WONDERFUL SISTERLY HUGGGGSSSS)))))))))), your little sister, Barbie

I recall back in my younger days taking a few phsch courses and one of the books that was heavy in our curriculum was the one about us all having child teen and adult personnalities that remain with us for most of our lives and your work captures that beautifully. I like to think that I will never lose the ability to wonder like a child, laugh like a teenagar and cry like an adult.

I agree, Annabel; and that is why I do not mind at all when I am told time and again that I never "grew up." Love and best wishes,

Annabel,

How true. Youth and dreams never die, unless we let them. Beautiful poem.

Beautiful Anna ~
I've been thinking about this lately. I think we have to have old-fashioned determination and be a little crazy so we can make these dreams come alive...so many out there just don't believe anymore, and they think a rainbow or a sunset is just to look at. I think they are for grabbing hold of with comic abandon. I myself don't care for being reasonable.
Love this one...thank you!
Blessings,
Christine

Yeah, I hear you Anna. My thoughts go back to childhood, some of those thoughts are good, some not so good. I have heard many, many people say and write that if they could go back in time they wouldn't change one thing of their past. I call them all liars. I like the way you ended this poem.

I was speaking to my fifty-three year old son yesterday and he said to me that mentally he feels no different than when he was in his twenties, and I told him that I, at age seventy-six, still feel much the same as I remember feeling in my thirties. When one is a child, the years move so slowly but the older a person becomes, the years seem to fly by. Very good poem, Anna, my friend.
