At times when shadows grow too long
And my climb must be in solitude,
I reach into my backpack
Where I carry my best friend
And loneliness dissipates like a gentle mist.
It took me a lifetime to get to know her,
Love her, and place her above all else,
But she was well worth the effort!
She’s always been there with me
Whether times were good or bad.
In her I have confided profound secrets,
Truths only she and I will ever know,
Things no one else would understand.
I see her strength in my eyes, and I know
She’ll never let me down.
And though my journey may at times
Lead me into dark places,
I will never be afraid,
I will never be alone,
For my very best friend lives in me!

Could not be more right. We tend to forget that the major tenet of
every major religion equates to do unto others as you would have them do undo y o u. Unless we learn to love and respect ourselves, there is no way we will be able to give others the love and respect they
deserve.
Thank you so much for this passionate and well-written reminder,
Annabel.
You are right. You are terrific!

you've gone a long way to know and understand the friend
that lives within. More important, perhaps, you have
the skill to put it into beautiful words. -gene.
I entertain the concept- I do know the road heads there...glimpses.
You help- thanks.

I'm still in the process of trying so hard to find her.
