When I saw an Indian cry
By Yours Truly
Local Talent
His hands thrust in the soil
And his eyes turned towards the sky
Heart breaking so the sorrow
As i Watched the Indian cry
"WHY HAS THE SUN FORSAKEN ME"
I heard him as he prayed
"Do i not rise with your smile
And work this land each day
Do i carry not the water
Cross the many hills and trails
Will you give me not your blessing
That i may feed my people well
He yipped up towards the sky
Like a Lone Wolf Howling in Pain.....
And the way i understand it
He was asking the sky to rain
"MOTHER EARTH....CAN YOU NOT HEAR ME"?
As the tears flowed from his eyes
"Will my children now be the next"
To wither here and die
{AIYEEEEEEE HEY-YA HEY}!
Well the old girl must have heard him
And i just stood there and sighed
As the rain it fell like teardrops
As he hugged the Earth and cried
{Ay-tee-kaw-ee-ay-lay......Ay Ayla } !
SACRED BE THE EARTH
I witnessed there a miracle
As slowly one by one
Those crops that looked quite dead to me
Reaching for the Sun
{Somewhere the bear was dancing...
The Eagle was smiling...
And the Wolf...Was singing Love songs}
If ever i've seen Magic
And you know i wouldn't lie
I witnessed it that day my friends.....
....
When i saw an Indian cry.....
NAh-wah-doe-hee-yaw-duh
Nah-nah.....Ay-Ayla !
{Peace on earth}
