Daughter, Daughter, do you have a dollar? We've clothed you and fed you, given you a bed It's time you get out and bring home the rent You're stupid and worthless, but a job you can find Help out around here and do as we say As long as you help out, we'll make sure that you stay Sister, Sister, do you have a dollar? You're nothing but trouble in this household of ours Can't wait til you grow up, we're counting the hours Buy us new shoes, a few clothes, whatever will do Bring home some groceries, and we'll cater to you You're stupid and worthless, but we'll put up with you Wifey, Wifey, do you have a dollar? Your'e ugly and stupid, but you can help out alot Work hard, keep quiet, and I'll buy you a house Dress as I show you, and speak when I say I'll fill you with babies, and you'll have to stay Mommie, oh Mommie, do you have a dollar? You can't change a diaper, or spend time at home Nannies will do it, cause daddy has you Just pop in and hug me, and hold me a little I'll be grateful for whatever, a trinket, a toy, anything will do We love you oh mommie, but we can't have you Darling, Darling, do you have a dollar? I'll take you and keep you and always be true Your babies will be mine, and I'll never leave you You're perfect, you're kind, you're gentle and good I've waited a lifetime, just to spend it with you Employee, Employee, do you have a dollar? We've taken your dignity, your ideas and your soul We promised to take care of you, for all that you toiled Once you got old, beaten and worn, We'll just cut you back, because we don't need you Yes, Yes, I do have a dollar Mommie and Daddy, sisters and friends...husbands and loved ones and those in between...I learned long ago that without any means No one would love or care if I lived I treated and I buy, I'l do anything it seems I''m caring, I'm good, and I'll do anything for you You don't need a dollar, ...I only want you At the end of this road, you'd think I had learned To close up my feelings, my heart and my purse It's too late believe me...This is the course that I take One day I'll be gone and you'll all laugh and sigh She was good for a laugh, a ride and a roof

An excellent piece Linda
In our days everyone has to carry their own way
No free loading, You know what they say
House guest are like fish, after three days they start to smell
Or is it after a few days the welcome matt disappears
Anyway whatever, it seems we'll be hearing a little of this,
Say Buddy can you spare me a dime???.....
Oops! That was a long time ago when a cup of coffee was a dime
Now they approach and say, "Say buddy you have a few dollars"
I haven't eaten in a few days.

Do you have a dollar is a powerful portrait of much of America where the dollar is more important than relationships. The dollar is one reason this country doesn't have many family values any longer However, at the end you point out what really is important, and it isn't the dollar. I wonder how many people will wake up and get it?
