Must Be As God

 I speak not of cats

for I know not of cats

but as for dogs 

for I know of dogs.

How,

they must wonder,

do I live in heat

when winter winds howl?

How,

they must wonder,

does this stuff I must drink

so magically appear

when my bowl no longer

runneth over?

How,

they must wonder,

does this stuff I must eat

so magically appear

when my bowl no longer

runneth over?

How does the darkness

turn to light?

How does the light

turn to darkness?

How do the things

I play with magically appear?

How does my being

swell with love for

the godly giver

of warmth

of water

of food

of light

of love?

In the heart of a dog

the giver of warmth,

of food,

of water,

of light,

of  love,

in the heart of a dog

the giver,

the you and me

must be as God.
